Kim4Love stepped into the limelight in the late 1980s in Kenya’s coastal strip city of Mombasa and malindi town. All revelers who used to throng the coastal nightspots at night first knew kim4love’s fame as a disk jockey. His love for music as a DJ inspired him to enter both regional and national “Dee-Jay” competitions. And in 1991 his prowess as a disc spinner paid off heavy dividends’ as he was voted the best DJ” in the whole of Mombasa. His victory was not just a praise laurel. The prize for “Best Coast DJ” was a glamorous tour to European countries. After a successful tour of European capitals, kim4love fell in love with the German city of Frankfurt where he decided to settle. He not only settled in Germany as a spinner but transformed himself into a musician.

In 1993 he took a bold step and formed a live band, at a time when the music industry was seeing a boon of solo artistes. Interestingly his move saw his popularity soar to new heights, with increasing demands for his music, and even live performances.

His superb compositions, lyrical artistry and captive performance have seen kim4love landing lucrative contracts in hotels across the globe. It is this recognition, boosted by his fans demands that saw him recording his hit CD Natamani which consists of nine tracks. The CD which was produced in 2003 has sold more than 6,000 copies- a rare feat in this part of the world. The tracks consist of numbers such as Niwewe, Natamani, the heart, zinalingana and love only.

The production of the tracks was done in Germany while One Heart Promotion handles the marketing. He once performed in Tanzania and was surprised to note that the Natamani was very popular. “The fans were so happy and kept on asking for more, say kim4love. He describes his music is as African Rock Reggae. Critics are however, quick to point out that his music is the new fusion of contemporary African sounds richly blended with reggae beats.

The crooner considers himself as a goodwill ambassador and has used his lyrics to market the country (Kenya) in Europe. Indeed his music has ended up luring tourists from Europe destined for Kenya’s unique, sandy, sun-kissed beaches. “ The Kenyan government and especially the Kenyan Tourist Board should take advantage of our talents and use us as points men in their strategy to attracts tourists to Kenya”, he says.

He confesses of his willingness to act as a Goodwill Ambassador to lure more tourists from all over the world through his music. “Music is an art form that cannot be confined to any boundaries and it is a medium through which Kenya can be able to attract more tourists throughout the year”, says jovial kim4love during an interview with the People on Sunday.
